Link – I Dream Of Wires

Link to the photo essay gallery ‘I Dream of Wires’, documenting the year long nomadic existence of Poppy’s hospital treatment leading to surgery. Shot on an iPhone, these black and white photo squares try to find some sense of beauty amidst the gruelling and uncertain journey towards treatment. During this time Poppy and Cosmo lost their mother to cancer. Poppy made another family amongst her friends at UCH and would often be in the playroom or school room during the day as she grew used to handling the 4 day treatment on various drips. In this year we spent approx 100 nights staying in hospital.

    • Thank you Effi. I’ve been finding things increasingly difficult and sad. I’ve written to Poppy’s school today who’ve donated a lot of money from their Comic Relief day in Poppy’s memory and that’s taken it out of me emotionally. I’ve been working on a lovely little animation of Poppy called ‘Hopper’ and another little film. We’ve had loads of hits since being linked from a site in Texas, 4,500 unique visitors so I’m really thankful for all the lovely messages. Thank you everyone. People have been visiting from all over the world. I’m sitting here having resumed writing ‘Flatpack’ which is very therapeutic. It’s slow progress but it is progress. Would Jade like some Poppy seeds? If she plants them now they will come up. I’ve been germinating lots but the wind blew over my plastic greenhouse last night and i’ve had to replant. I’m hoping to have a really mad show of Poppies outside the house this year. I always grew poppies for Poppy and they were usually up for her birthday.

      love to Jade. Philip xx
